This is basically my rant page.  I, like everyone else on this world, have some heavy opinions.  Some of them are just rants to get off my chest, some are things I can do something about.  This is called "Six Feet" because the state government was trying to pass a law stating that strippers must stay six feet away from their patrons.  That law passed,  (See below)  but there are more things going on that I'm going to rant about.  The first two here were done with professionalism and thought but I think I'm going to stop doing that and just rant.

Six Feet Law  Patent Infringement

The Six Feet Law?

So once again, people care about what you do with your time, money and body.  There is a law that is has been passed in the state of Connecticut, effectively banning lap dances at strip clubs. The dancers have to stay six feet away from the patrons at all times. This has already been passed in Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California as well.

This is so stupid.  It's an example of people trying to control your sexual freedoms.  How the hell will making a stripper stay six feet from someone protect someone from.......anything?

Hey, let's have a more useful law like, "any one mugging another person has to stay six feet from the other".  THAT would be useful.  That's someone trying to hurt someone.  But a lap dance is one person trying to make another person feel good.  What??? Someone feeling good sexually?????  Quick!!!  All the religious people call the government and make a law!!!!  We can't have that!!  Think of the children!!!

I have a few good friends who are dancers and this is good income for those people. A lot of the dancers are college women, single moms, etc, and this a job that they can make a living on.  Not all strippers go home and shoot up coke.  A lot of them are trying to make money.  If this is enforced, this could hurt them financially because who wants a lap dance with the girl six feet away?  I might as well watch softcore porn on Showtime.....

Also, this is another infringement of our sexual freedoms.
Recently, city of Berlin, Connecticut has closed down a swinger's club called "Mingles." This was a club that people had to be a member to get in, and there is an entry fee to get in the door.

They were charged because "paying to get in the door and then going into the building to have sex is the same thing as prostitution."  They succeeded in making that stick so that they closed down, but doesn't that make every hotel in the whole world a den of prostitution?  How many times have you rented a hotel room just to have sex?  Now they are applying the same mentality to lap dances. This is an out and out attack on sexual freedom and choice.

Also as a side note, this is another slap in the face to the male gender.  Now I'm not saying that we're saints, 'cause we're not, but damn, people, we're talking about watching a beautiful naked woman dance and feel her brush up against you.  How is that going to bring down the walls of civilization????

Besides, I'm willing to bet this "six feet rule" does NOT apply to the male dancers who dance at clubs that women go to.  And you know, at the strip clubs women go to, women scream, stuff dollar bills in hopes to touch, uhm, something, they dance with the strippers, etc.  In a strip club that men go to, the women are not touched when they are tipped, we don't dance with them, we don't scream and there's a general sense of silent admiration for the strippers.  If we're so repressed in our own club, why repress us more?

All in all, this is a bad idea brought on by people who want to control sexual freedom.

From what I hear, the law passed.  However, don't expect cops lining up at the door of your favorite strip club.  It seems to me that this is an insane law to enforce, taking waaaaay too much time for the police to hang out at adult clubs.  I know several strippers personally and they've all said that no one has ever been arrested by it.  I'm sure that it's one of those laws that will be brought up out of the woodworks when needed.  I expect no one will notice unless some political or religious figure gets uppity and decides to have the police raid a club for cheap publicity.  So be on the alert.  You'll never know when that will happen.

Patent infringement

The links below take you to a letter I received on 10-25-03.  As you can see this company claimed to have patented the process of streaming audio and video.  Now I have to pay $1500.00 for the past license up to December, 2003, and another $1500.00 in January for 2004.   The information on Acacia's patent is here.

Update: 7-7-05

Well, it's been almost two years since I was contacted by this company.  Their claim has been shot down, brought up, reviewed over and over.  The process is slow.  They never have contacted me since.  Though I do not expect that this is the last I've heard from them.

Update: 7-25-06

Another year has passed.  No news.  At all.  Of course everyone and their brother is doing pod casting (which is what they claim they have a patent on), they have to sue a LOT of people.

Update: 1-20-07

So I don't stream adult entertainment.  Youtube.com, Hotmovies.com and Clips.com is getting no slack from these people, I think it's safe to say that this scam is over.  If I do get another letter from them, let me say right here and now, I'll promptly throw it away without a second thought.
